Included: The Disability Equity Podcast

Oct 14, 2021

A Planetary Science graduate student at Johns Hopkins University, L. Miché Aaron describes both her research studying minerals on Mars and her grassroots efforts to diversify science. Miché shares the story of her ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) diagnosis and how society conditioned her to internalize stigma related to neurodiversity. She highlights the importance of empowering minority women with disabilities, including neurodiversity, to success in STEM. Miché explains that it is not enough to increase the representation of minority women in STEM. Rather, we should provide the tools to guard against attrition and ensure that research environments are conducive to their success.
